The idea of 'Dancers 4 Cancer' came to me after both my parents passed away from two different forms of cancer just five weeks apart in 2008. I just wanted to do something, anything, to honor them. Dancing was mom's passion and now my passion, and I am having a blast 'following in her footsteps'.

Carol BabeA Celebration for a Cause is an evening of dance with an intended outcome of expanding the opportunity for wellness through fun and ease seemed perfect! Sharing this idea with others is what caused it to grow into something real and doable, and there has not been one person I have spoken with that has not been affected by cancer in one way or another.

The team of individuals stepping up to contribute their time and talents to assist in this cause have been truly amazing, and I cannot thank them enough -- for without them this would have only remained a concept.

I would also like to acknowledge Florida Cancer Specialists, who I ran across quite accidentally while at a golf event. In hearing some of their doctors speak at a breakfast and touring their facility, I learned of their cause of assisting cancer patients in the Tampa Bay area.

Subsequently, a good friend currently recovering from breast cancer, recently informed me that she attributes Dr. Paneossa, Gulfcoast Oncology founder and later becoming part of Florida Cancer Specialists, with saving her life. I now knew we had found the right charity for this event! Dancers 4 Cancer has now evolved into honoring all those with cancer, those blessed with recovery, the loved ones lost as well as those of us left with fond memories.

My dream is to have this event be held annually. Watching this evolve has been tremendously rewarding. Please come have fun with us while supporting this magnificent charity!

Thank you all,

UPDATE: Dancers 4 Cancer is currently celebrating it’s 4th annual event. Each previous annual event has allowed us the opportunity to donate over $10,000 to help our neighbors here in the Tampa Bay area. Since the inception of  Dancers 4 Cancer, our charity has changed in name only as Gulfcoast Oncology has now partnered with Florida Cancer Specialists in 2011.
